The Baker’s Box from Short Stacks and baking loot!
October 27, 2018 by JennyBeing in the kitchen is therapeutic for many of us and more so for me during the holidays months. I start planning my baking in September when the holiday baking magazines hit the shelves. Over the next month we will have a treasure trove of giveaways for cookbooks, cookware and more but today’s giveaway is geared toward the baker.
To start off this collection, we have The Baker’s Box from Short
Stack Editions. This specially selected gift set includes the
following titles:
- Short Stack Vol 30: Butter by Dorie Greenspan
- Short Stack Vol 19: Maple Syrup by Casey Elsass
- Short Stack Vol 18: Chocolate by Susie Heller
- Short Stack Vol 12: Brown Sugar by Libbie Summers
- Short Stack Vol 4: Buttermilk by Angie Mosier
- Short Stack Vol 1: Eggs by Ian Knauer
Short Stack Editions are a collection of single subject titles where retro design meets contemporary recipes penned by well-known authors. Each volume has a home-spun feel – an artisanal high-quality craftsmanship can be felt as you read through the recipes. Members can find out more and order these books through the Short Stack Editions website. We have covered The Short Stack Cookbook and Butter previously. I adore these lovely little books which not only are filled with great recipes but their gorgeous covers spice up the decor whether they live on your kitchen counter or on a bookshelf.
Oaktown Spice Shops are uber cool spice shops in Oakland, California’s Grand Lake neighborhood and on Solano Avenue in Albany, California. They focus on sourcing the absolute best-tasting version of each individual spice that they can find, which entails working with hundreds of different importers. They grind spices in their shop, every week or two. This means the ground spices customers find at Oaktown are bursting with flavor and are far fresher than those found elsewhere. Their spice blends are signature recipes, hand-mixed in the shop using freshly ground spices. Some, like the Santa Fe Chili Powder, are their versions of well-known favorites, while others, such as the Grand Lake Shake or Umami Sea Salt, are their own inventions, born of curiosity and adventures in the kitchen.
The Baker’s Delight Gift Box shares 1/2 cup jars of Saigon cinnamon and natural cocoa powder, 1/4 cup jars of ground allspice, ground cardamom and ground ginger, and a 1 oz jar of ground cloves and will cover your holiday baking needs.
The Spicy Cocoa Gift Set includes one 1/2 cup jar of Natural Cocoa Powder and 1/4 cup jars of Ceylon Cinnamon and Ground Guajillo Chile. It is packed with cinnamon sticks and bay leaves and includes a recipe card. This gift set and a gorgeous pair of mugs would thrill the cocoa lover.
Bushwick Kitchen is Brooklyn, New York creates a range of versatile and delightful products to enhance our cooking and baking. Their Bees Knees honey collection is a favorite of mine as well as their Trees Knees maple gift set. Somehow they make two of my favorite ingredients – honey and maple – even better and exciting to work with. Casey, the author of the Maple Syrup Short Stack edition is a co-founder of this hip company.
Nielsen-Massey is on a mission to delight people with nature’s finest tasting vanillas and flavors. Besides a number of high-quality vanilla products they have recently launched a pure lemon paste which is outstanding in flavor. The only brand of vanilla I buy is Nielsen-Massey (I also make my own) and highly recommend their products.
Special thanks to Short Stack, Oaktown Spice, Bushwick Kitchen and Nielsen-Massey for supplying me with the products in the photo above to review and enjoy and for providing a set of baking products as set out below in our giveaway.
