The most popular Christmas candy in each state
November 30, 2017 by DarcieI have to admit I’m a sucker for lists, so I was tickled when Jenny shared this with me: a listing of the top Christmas candy for each state in the US. I knew that people in the US have a sweet tooth, but was a bit taken aback that we will spend $1.93 billion USD on candy for the holiday season. That’s a lot of sugar!
There are small to medium-sized specialty candy makers in each state and I thought maybe we would see some of those little-known gems on this listing. I’m sad to report this is not the case, even though Pearson’s Nut Goodies, made near me, are excellent.
That said, it is interesting to see what treat is preferred for each state. The list is based on a survey of over 50,000 customers of Candystore.com, corroborated by the sales figures from America’s top candy makers. In addition to the infographic below, there’s an interactive map that dives a little deeper, listing the top three candies in each state. I’m disappointed with my state’s chosen candy, but judging by the candy dishes I’ve seen here, it’s probably not wrong.
