Yes, I use a pressure cooker very often. I make chicken, beef and vegetable broths in it as well as stews and Risotto! One of my favorite things to make is a Lamb Tagine with dried apricots and honey!

  • mcrimmins  on  January 5, 2017

I have never used an Instant pot but my mom was a big fan of her pressure cooker until it exploded and the lid got wedged in the kitchen ceiling.

  • rchesser  on  January 5, 2017

I have a horror story. I had a roommate when I moved into my first apartment that was making oxtails in one of the old fashioned stove top pressure cookers, she fell asleep and kaboom, oxtails on the ceiling, the floor, they were even on top of the refrigerator.

  • Kristjudy  on  January 5, 2017

I love making short ribs in the pressure cooker.

  • eliza  on  January 5, 2017

I haven't used one but my Mum did. No horror stories therefore.

  • AsTheNight  on  January 5, 2017

I have used a pressure cooker. My favorite thing to make with one is Bolognaise sauce.

  • SandJ  on  January 5, 2017

Stews & more, but guilty of using it as a rice cooker quite often to leave the stovetop available for other dishes!

  • jlemoine  on  January 5, 2017

We were raised on good old fashioned pressure cooker beef stew as kids.

  • Chef_Jen  on  January 5, 2017

I have not used a pressure cooker, but would love to try it.

  • stockholm28  on  January 5, 2017

I've never used a pressure cooker but am game to learn how.

  • Lmeyers520  on  January 5, 2017

I don't have a programmable pressure cooker. I have a Fagor which makes the most awesome chicken soup!

  • madelainelc  on  January 5, 2017

I've never used one, but I really want to!

  • madamepince  on  January 5, 2017

No horror stories — but my pressure cooker is a yard sale find, old, with low pressure –so I only use it for veggies.

  • edyenicole  on  January 5, 2017

    I've never used one before.

  • Sconelady  on  January 5, 2017

Kalua pork was delicious! Super fast, super yum.

  • FrenchCreekBaker  on  January 5, 2017

I have never used a pressure cooker, only a rice cooker. It is my 2017 goal to explore cooking using one of these multi-purpose Pots. Thanks for running the contest and the review of this new cookbook.

  • lauriesk  on  January 5, 2017

I used to use a stove top pressure cooker all the time, and loved the flavors of the foods cooked in it. I own an electric pressure cooker, but I haven't used it yet.

  • laureljean  on  January 5, 2017

I haven't used a pressure cooker, but my brother uses one all the time. Perhaps this is the year.

  • sgump  on  January 5, 2017

Ever since I lived in Japan in the 1990s, I've owned rice cookers (a specialized variant). And even though I know I can do a lot more than steam rice in a rice cooker, I seem to channel some sort of inner Japanese purist by shuddering at the thought of "contaminating" my rice cooker in such a manner. So perhaps I need a separate pressure cooker for everything other than rice?

  • matag  on  January 5, 2017

    Ham and bean soup

  • tcjanes  on  January 6, 2017

Works great for short ribs and stock making.

  • jaburg  on  January 6, 2017

Fav for pressure cooker is bean soup

  • ravensfan  on  January 6, 2017

I've never used a pressure cooker but I'm curious to try it.

  • dbielick  on  January 6, 2017

I have used a pressure cooker and have no horror stories. One of our favorite meals is a tortellini soup from Great Food Fast by Bob Warden. Also, love to hard boil eggs in the pressure cooker.

  • Siegal  on  January 6, 2017

I love my pressure cooker especially when I make stock

  • jupflute  on  January 6, 2017

I've never used a pressure cooker. I am a little afraid of them, but I've been considering getting an electric one for a while, so maybe someday…

  • AlisonL  on  January 6, 2017

I have an InstantPot and like to steam potatoes and cook grains in it. I am very new to it. I gave one to my Sister-in-Law for Christmas and would really just like to win the book to give to her.

  • NaomiH  on  January 6, 2017

I have a standard pressure cooker. I've used it for canned goods. My favorite item to can is beans, black eyed peas and pinto beans. No horror stories, I haven't used it to make regular meals.

  • SamanthaV  on  January 6, 2017

I purchased one for my mom so she could make bone broth because she kept forgetting to turn off the stove, this way she makes it in under an hour and it turns off by itself. She loves it.

  • Judy_Mass  on  January 6, 2017

I love using my pressure cooker for beans and grains, but my favorite repeat is corned beef.

No horror stories with my new cooker, but I remember back in HS having the lids blow off the pressure cooker and splatter the ceiling with very hot apple sauce!

  • lhudson  on  January 6, 2017

Have never used one but remember my Mom having one to make soup. She never had any mishaps with it.

  • sarahawker  on  January 6, 2017

I have used a traditional pressure cooker, and honestly I am scared to death of that thing, it is LOUD. I only ruined one meal in it though, didn't latch it properly so it never reached pressure and boiled out, left a huge black mess of charcoal instead of stew…..

  • Veronik  on  January 6, 2017

I make soups and stocks in mine quite a bit, but my favourite dish was a mushroom risotto using the guidelines from 'hip pressure cooking'. The mushrooms had already been used for a consomme, and were then combined with dried mushrooms. It was delicious.

  • Tsirly  on  January 6, 2017

Haven't used one myself (yet), but looking forward to trying.

  • t.t  on  January 6, 2017

I've never used one, but I'm curious about them.

  • PennyG  on  January 6, 2017

I just got an Instant Pot last summer. I made a beautiful Lamb Bolognese from Meredith Laurence's Delicious Under Pressure and have made many pots of beans. No horror stories – yet!

  • kath  on  January 6, 2017

I made a delicious Paleo Butter Chicken! So flavorful and easy!

  • Mariarosa  on  January 6, 2017

I have used a pressure cooker and I love to make pot roast in it!

  • CapeCodCook  on  January 6, 2017

I have been using my Christmas-gift Instant Pot Pressure Cooker to make various chicken dishes with Mediterranean flavors. I am very impressed at how easy it is, and how quick.

  • corrg14  on  January 6, 2017

I have a pressure cooker but it is 50 years old. I definitely need something new!

  • jezpurr  on  January 6, 2017

Never used one, but would love to try some recipes!!!^_^

  • lgroom  on  January 6, 2017

Back in the day, my mother used one most evenings for something. I have a couple unfortunate memories of scraping stuff off the ceiling so I've never been inclined to use one (brave enough?) to use one since. Would love to try though.

  • DJBWA  on  January 7, 2017

Aduki beans with butternut squash and roasted chestnuts.

  • FJT  on  January 7, 2017

My mother cooked just about everything in her pressure cooker and it went with us on many a vacation occupying pride of place on the back seat of the car between my sister and I. There was one really bad experience when chicken soup was sprayed round the kitchen – I remember trying to clean that off the walls and ceiling and vowed never to have a pressure cooker of my own. Fast forward 30 years and I bought a stovetop pressure cooker last year and I absolutely love it; from cooking beans, making stock, soup and stews to risotto … it's really useful, especially in the summer when there's no way I want to have the oven on.

  • Kbonner  on  January 8, 2017

My brother forced a stovetop one open, I just remember beans everywhere. I have a stovetop one, but would love to try the new one.

  • infotrop  on  January 8, 2017

I love my pressure cooker; saves so much time! I wouldn't make a soup or stock any other way.

  • upstatemissy  on  January 8, 2017

I have not tried a pressure cooker, I was always afraid. My grandmother told me a story of the lid flying off and becoming embedded in her ceiling when she was a young woman, it always stuck with me. I did get over the fear and have used a pressure canner though.

  • alirov  on  January 9, 2017

I use my pressure cooker all the time to make quick weeknight meals. No scary stories, it's always worked like a charm. I did get quite the bargain on it though since I found a basically unused one at Goodwill!

  • lebarron2001  on  January 9, 2017

I have an Instantpot and my favorite meal to cook is white chicken chili.

  • cindymisho  on  January 9, 2017

Spaghetti is my favorite thing to cook in the pressure cooker.

  • elysek  on  January 9, 2017

I've never used a pressure cooker but have heard a lot of great things about the instant pot.

  • Emily Hope  on  January 9, 2017

I've used pressure cookers for a long time, but I just got an Instant Pot and totally love that you can preprogram it–I make steel cut oatmeal for my kids in the morning, and bean soups that are ready when I get home from work!

  • valorie  on  January 9, 2017

I am new to pressure cooking — trying out some Soup today… wish me luck!!!!

  • imjammin2  on  January 9, 2017

Yes, I own a pressure cooker but the only thing I have ever cooked was manzanita berries to make jelly. I am a bit fearful of it. My mom's was so loud I would hide in my bedroom while she was using it!

  • lindaeatsherbooks  on  January 10, 2017

I haven't used a pressure cooker yet, but this is something I want to try this year.

  • cocecitycook  on  January 10, 2017

I have only used a pressure cooker for canning

  • tamingtassie  on  January 10, 2017

I haven't, but my parents have. The worst scenario was dad letting all the water steam out and scorching the food.

  • Radiantpurple  on  January 10, 2017

Like many others I am a pressure cooker virgin – however one of my favourite bloggers (Mel's Kitchen) raves about her Instapot and shares many great recipes for it that make me hanker to own one!!

  • camtncook  on  January 10, 2017

I've made cheesecake in my Instant Pot-so good…

  • cezovski  on  January 11, 2017

I haven't used a pressure cooker before because I find it intimidating.

  • annmartina  on  January 12, 2017

No horror stories. I've used a stovetop Fagor for about the last 10 years and recently switched to an Instant Pot. My favorite thing to make is pot roast.

  • hclose24  on  January 12, 2017

I have not used an Instant Pot…yet! I have a friend that got one for Christmas and is raving about it so I would love to try it out! I wanted to check out recipes and things before I committed to buying one, but thought I would try my luck on this giveaway first πŸ™‚

  • JanScholl  on  January 14, 2017

I have a small pressure cooker and I make my dog's dinner fresh every night. He is on a diet and the veggies are so healthy for him.

  • Starfleetmom  on  January 14, 2017

I love my pressure cookers..i have 3 sizes. I make beans, rice, stews, etc and I use them in canning homemade jams and sauces.

  • Nancith  on  January 14, 2017

I have never used a pressure cooker, but have had one on my Amazon wishlist for years–I guess no one wants to give it to me as a gift! I remember my mom's old-fashioned pressure cooker with the little valve on top that released the steam-no accidents though.

  • aefaint  on  January 16, 2017

I have used The Instant Pot a few times – my boyfriend became obsessed with it and so I had to have my own. My favourite meal to cook with it is Bolognese Sauce. My mom used to make meat sauce fairly often but I must have missed some steps since mine never turned out as tasty and delicious. Thankfully, making it in The Instant Pot gets pretty close to those flavours!

  • allthatsleftarethecrumbs  on  January 17, 2017

For a long time I had horrible memories of the old rattler-type pressure cookers and my grandmothers ham and split pea soup exploding. I forced myself to get over this and have tried a pressure cooker to make vegetable soup, but I have never tried an Instant Pot.

  • Kiyah  on  January 17, 2017

Recently, I acquired a pressure cooker, the first I've ever had. It's a 10 quart Fagor, stovetop type and can do pressure canning as well. It's great that it cooks food so fast and it tastes so good. I've been using the Hip Pressure Cooker book and it's been spot on, great recipes. It's a great reference, too. This cooker has re-invigorated my interest in cooking, I'd been in a slump. No horror stories here.

  • averythingcooks  on  January 17, 2017

My mom always told the story of turnip on the ceilings and windows. My husband is the pressure cooker expert in this house and it's great when he does a whole chicken on Sunday night so I can use the meat in a of couple dinners during the week.

  • kimtrev  on  January 18, 2017

we use our pressure cooker for artichokes most often, but I also love it to make stews

  • gjelizabeth  on  January 18, 2017

Many years ago and the classic clogged gauge which blew the top off the pressure cooker, spreading food all over the ceiling. Maybe it's time to try again.

  • pandapotamus  on  January 18, 2017

    I've never used one before.

  • FireRunner2379  on  January 19, 2017

I've only used a pressure cooker for canning, but would love to use it for cooking meats!

  • MelMM  on  January 19, 2017

I use a pressure cooker regularly for beans, rice, risotto, and more. I have to drive a lot for my work and take my Instant Pot with me to cook delicious meals in my motel room!

  • FrenchCreekBaker  on  January 19, 2017

Beef Stew is a breeze! And for dessert Pina-Colada Rice Pudding is quick comfort food in the pressure cooker. New devices like the Instant Pot are not scary and I have nothing but good experiences to report.

  • trudys_person  on  January 19, 2017

I love it for soups, stews and quick cooking beans!

  • jenmacgregor18  on  January 20, 2017

I've tried the pressure cooker; but didn't have great results. I'd love to find some good recipes/ techniques.

  • Laura64  on  January 22, 2017

I have one that I've only used once with mix results. I need recipes and experience.

  • AnneOther  on  January 22, 2017

I received a Cuisinart pressure cooker last year, and although it doesn't have as many features as the popular Instant Pot, I'm learning to love it. I've made some great "refried" beans in it, as well as poached chicken (the meat is perfect for lots of uses, like enchiladas) and pureed sweet potatoes. But I want to get better at using it!

  • alienor  on  January 22, 2017

bought my instapot one month ago and have used it to make 8 quarts of chicken stock. so easy, so quick and such great results. also have made chicken paprikash and it was a hit. ow i haveput my slow cooker away in the basement and my instapot on the countetop!

  • rejcooks  on  January 23, 2017

  • vinochic  on  January 24, 2017

never used one, but would love to try it!

  • perilouslypale  on  January 25, 2017

I have been researching the Instant Pot and recipes for it because I've been hearing so many raves for it lately from my friends online. Our crockpot and steamer have both broke within the last 2 weeks so I'm trying so hard to convince my hubby to let me invest in one. Winning one would be amazing! Thanks for the chance.

  • Shellram  on  January 25, 2017

I make a healthy meal with lentils , rice and mixed veggies like cauliflower ,cabbage, tomatoes and peas. Its wonderful when hot and makes for great leftovers.
I had a disaster with the old fashioned pressure cooker when i filled it way over the water line and cooked garbanzo beans. They expanded so much that the lid flew off and my ceiling was splattered!!!

  • sally0630  on  January 26, 2017

I haven't ever used a pressure cooker but I I would love to own one some day.

  • damazinah  on  January 28, 2017

I love cooking roasts in the pressure cooker. They turn out so tender and flavorful.

  • linded  on  January 28, 2017

My pressure cooker saves so much time. Chicken stock is done in less than an hour instead of three to four hours! It's perfect for cooking dried beans, tougher cuts of meat for stew, and bitter greens like collards or kale. I'm just beginning to learn the possibilities.

  • mpdeb98  on  January 28, 2017

Stews that would take hours the traditional way are done so quickly with a pressure cooker.

  • RaceyR  on  January 29, 2017

Love my stove top pressure cooker. My favorite use is artichokes. Perfectly moist and delicious every time. I hear so many good things about the instant pot too. Love Lorna Sass pressure cooker cookbooks, would love to see what other authors say too.

  • Sfgordon  on  January 30, 2017

I LOVE my pressure cooker and I use it for tons of different things, like quickly cooking grains, making stocks, and making one pot meals like chili and soups. I have heard great things about the instant pot but so far I've stuck to stove-top pressure cookers.

  • Katiefayhutson  on  January 30, 2017

I just used one two weeks ago for the first time and loved it. No favorite dishes yet though.

  • SilverSage  on  January 30, 2017

Short ribs! They come out perfect.

  • mariehuntoon  on  January 31, 2017

I have never used a pressure cooker. I've always been to scared!!!

  • Grywhp  on  January 31, 2017

    Never used one

  • biblioholicbeth  on  January 31, 2017

We have an instant pot, and my husband decided to make ribs at a time that he was mad at me and wouldn't ask for help. He didn't put the lid on all way and make sure the seal was tight, so it kept leaking steam…which of course, delayed when it got up to pressure. I kept suggesting that he might want to do something about it, but he refused…Long story short – those were *not* the best ribs I've ever eaten πŸ˜€

  • cambridgecook  on  February 1, 2017

I always do grains and beans in my pressure cooker. Whole beets only take 14 minutes!

  • rosyannposy  on  February 1, 2017

I have a stove top pressure cooker. I like it for beans.

  • daniellespinato1  on  February 3, 2017

We sometimes do greens in the pressure cooker but we always have to watch it like a hawk. I am definitely intrigued by the instant pot!

  • tangaloor  on  February 4, 2017

I mostly use mine for beans, so ideas for more versatility would be great!

  • AGENT99  on  February 5, 2017

I've never used a pressure cooker before.

  • robinj  on  February 6, 2017

I have a pressure cooker I used to use for canning (I lived at 6000 feet and lots of things need to be canned with pressure; now I live at sea level and don't use it). I always found it awkward to use, though I had no disasters. It is also too large for the meals I would make. Would love to try pressure cooked meals, as I love soups and stews, so am thinking about an instant pot

  • niniacedo  on  February 7, 2017

I just bought a pressure cooker!!! I've only used once before to cook a cow's tongue. Surprisingly it tasted amazing!!!

  • stephdayl  on  February 8, 2017
