Well, I've already quit sugar, but I sometimes have some creme fraiche with sweeteners for breakfast or dessert. So that's the thing I would quit if I had to really take out all things sweet.

I would say fruit would be the toughest sweet for me to eliminate completely. I am pretty sure that Sarah says it's okay to eat the low fructose fruits, but I'm not sure what she thinks regarding the higher fructose ones.

Fortunately, I don't have much of a sweet tooth as far as desserts are concerned. But fruit … some nutritionists consider them "sugar bombs," but I agree with the author that the other nutrients and fiber compensate for the sugar. I can't believe a healthy diet would eliminate fruit!

I use very little sugar. I don't have a sweet tooth. My husband makes up for it. He eats my share. I tend to substitute other natural sweeteners instead but if a recipe MUST have sugar, it is always free trade organic. I pay more but I won't use grocery store sugar. There are sugar beet farms near me and they are disgusting.
