Cooking together for extra pleasure
September 23, 2014 by DarcieIf you enjoyed the book
Julie and Julia, or if you just like
exploring the recipes of a particular author, be sure to check out
our latest addition to the EYB Forum. It’s called “Cooking together
with an author” and follows the success of a topic titled
“Cooking together with Diana Henry.” Members can now add their
favorite author (or blog!) and get other EYB members cooking
together with them – sharing recipe experiences, talking about the
books or blogs, and learning from each other. There are so many
great authors in the EYB Library that choosing will be the
hardest part!
In the “Cooking together with Diana Henry” topic, members chimed in with their experience with recipes like Harissa-marinated lamb with spiced mash and cinnamon onions from Crazy Water Pickled Lemons, Bulgarian grilled zucchini and eggplants with(out) tarator from A Change of Appetite, and Maple-brined pork chops with pear and juniper relish from Salt, Sugar, Smoke. Members shared their reactions to each dish, noted substitutions or additions they made, and discussed the recipe’s strengths and weaknesses. Here is an example of a useful comment you will find in this Forum: “Go easy on the garlic- it provided a nice note of sharpness, but the flavor could easily get out of hand.”
The “Cooking together with” forum is only available to EYB Members. If you aren’t a member yet, you can join at no cost. Free membership allows you access to the Forum and allows you unlimited online recipes and up to five cookbooks on your Bookshelf. Plus you will get great features like the Bookmarklet and Notes. Upgrade to a Full membership and add an unlimited number of cookbooks to your Bookshelf!
“Cooking together with” provides a fun yet flexible opportunity to better explore your cookbooks. There are no requirements on participation other than being an EYB Member. You can make as many or as few recipes as your schedule allows, although we suspect that once you get the bug, you’ll be closer to “many” than to “few.” Who are you looking forward to seeing in the “Cooking together with” forum?
