  I always look forward to these nominations and this year has a number of very worthy nominees.

  My absolute favourite book on the list is The Farm. I bought this last year and have loved every single recipe I made. It's a real treasure.

  I love all the Ottolenghi cookbooks. I can't wait to get Nancy Singleton Hachisu's book which i've heard amazing things about. Happy to see a wide variety of backgrounds of the authors in this list.

  Smitten Kitchen and Jerusalem cookbooks are two of my favorites. I am a huge foodie and am addicted to cookbooks. I have an extensive collection and would love to attend the expo!!

  Can't get to SF, so don't enter me in the ticket drawing. But I wanted to thank you for alerting to the existence of the Gourmand awards — and to say that the presentation of that info is the most irritating and reader-unfriendly that I've ever experienced. Is there a location where the same information is just presented in static print? I gave up less than halfway through.

  ellabee, I had the same reaction as you did to the Gourmand site/presentation of info. I only made it to page 3 of 442 though!!

  I know, that Gourmand Awards site must be the most irritating I have ever come across. I don't know how anyone could think the sound of pages turning is helpful! And the layout is terrible too. They have had it like this for a few years so they obviously don't get negative feedback on it (or ignore it if they do).

  Ah, much better: The Eater listing can be viewed all at once and studied.

  And doing so delights me with the news that one of the regional prizes (World Cuisine: Arab) was won by my favorite new cookbook, The Gaza Kitchen by Laila El-Haddad and Maggie Schmitt. It's only been available since mid-January, and the authors are doing a some cooking and book events up and down the eastern US this month. [More info at justworldbooks.com ]

  Huh! Unlike the Oscars, I've actually seen and have opinions on many of the nominees. The Chef Restaurant category is going to be particularly brutal; I don't know how you'd decide between those three.
