Will these foods still rule in 2014?

According to BuzzFeed, there were 13 Foods That Rose to Power in 2013. Here they are – and we’ll leave you to ponder whether they will continue to rule, or other foods will come in to trump them:

  • Cronuts
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Oreos
  • MSG
  • Doritos Locos Taco
  • Pumpkin Spice
  • Ramen Burgers
  • “Edibles” (e.g. marijuana-infused food like Nugtella)
  • Pop-Tart Sandwiches
  • The Horse
  • The Bacon Weave
  • Mug Snacks
  • The Absence of Gluten

Personally, we’re rooting hard for good bread with sweet butter to make a comeback. Have a wonderful New Year’s everyone!

Well I ate Brussels Sprouts this year – but then I do nearly every year.
Just not with it I guess.
    Pho anyone?

Despite its presence as a burger condiment, I was surprised that Raman didn't make the list, and doesn't pumpkin spice sound awfully 2003-ish?

Brussels spouts have been in very short supply this year, which I'd figured was due to some combination of weather and farm economics. Now I see it may have been extra hipster demand, which might subside in 2014… <g>
