How to avoid ever buying a rotten avocado
June 19, 2012 by Lindsay
Our friends over at theKitchn
have a great tip for anyone who’s ever held their breath opening an
avocado. Since avocados brown so fast after opening, they need to
be opened pretty much right before using. But then what to do if
the avocado is a brown mess inside rather than the welcoming green
that means creamy deliciousness? Not only are those avocados
expensive, but a bad avocado could ruin the dish.
To solve this problem, theKitchen printed this tip from an article, Never buy a rotten avocado again, published by Erica, a Seattle-based food and gardening blogger, in her website, Northwest Edible Life:
“Take a peek under the dry little button on the stem end. If it’s green, then you will be rewarded with a perfect avocado. If it’s brown, then you will find a brown slimy mess inside.”
Thanks!
