New blog index: Ali Slagle’s 40 Ingredients Forever
August 25, 2025 by JennyWe have today added a new blog index, Ali Slagle’s 40 Ingredients Forever. Ali Slagle is a Brooklyn-based recipe developer, the author of I Dream of Dinner (So You Don’t Have To): Low-Effort, High-Reward Recipes, contributor to The New York Times, editor, food and prop stylist, and project manager. She cut her teeth on the editorial and creative teams at Food52 – before that, she edited books (mostly cookbooks) at Ten Speed Press (part of Penguin Random House).

At the present time, there are 54 recipes that have been indexed from the 40 Ingredients Forever Substack and are available to paid subscribers. The Substack with over 30,000 subscribers is devoted to recipes that are abundant in flavor and joy and streamlined in process and shopping – because they’ll all be made only using Ali’s 40 go-to ingredients. You won’t need all 40 ingredients right now, and there’s a chance you’ll already have everything to make the featured recipes. Any items you do accumulate will get used up over time with a little help from 40 Ingredients Forever.
