CookShelf app, GBBO returns, IACP 2025 Cookbook Award finalists, events and more

A mobile app has been a top Eat Your Books member request for years, and it’s finally here! We’re calling the app CookShelf, and you can subscribe in the app, or access it as part of your Eat Your Books Premium membership. You can download the app on the Apple App Store here and on Google Play Store here. If you’re having issues linking your EYB account in CookShelf (maybe you’re seeing the paywall when you are already a Premium member, or your books aren’t synching), here’s some info on how to resolve that.

We have added a new cookbook store in Vienna to our Cookbook Stores Around the World page: Babette’s Spice & Books for Cooks, a special place for those who love cooking and enjoy life. In 2002, Nathalie Pernstich opened the flagship store in the Freihausviertel. Since 2008, Babette’s has had a downtown branch in the baroque Palais Collalto. At both locations, they offer over 2,000 cookbooks for every taste and every occasion, can advise you on the right spices and spice blends from their own factory, and conjure up exquisite menus with you during their cooking classes.

The Abergavenny Food Festival will be held September 20th and 21st and has a wonderful lineup of events and speakers. There are loads of other tastings and speakers with those that do not have cookbooks so be sure to check out their full event listing.

For those of you in the Washington D.C. area – my friend, the chef Genevieve Villamora, is leading a four week class – cooking in the diaspora at Bold Fork Books. The series begins on September 9th and will utilize cookbooks, articles, essays and workshop participants’ own lived experience to look at the following themes: Week 1: The Taste of Home; Week 2: “Authenticity”; Week 3: Memory; and Week 4: Transformation. Genevieve is an amazing speaker and I wish I were able to attend. Click here for more details.

Be sure to read about the finalists for the IACP 2025 Cookbook Awards. On November 5th, the winners will be announced at the IACP Awards and Summit in Brooklyn New York.

And lastly, be sure to set your recording devices as The Great British Bake Off/Baking Show returns on September 2nd in the UK and will stream on Netflix on the 5th. Find out more here.

Loading the new app was incredibly easy! All my books are right there. Thank you!

Am I right in thinking the app doesn’t have any of the functionality of the website? It’s *just* my shelf and you can’t filter the same way?

    • Jenny  on  August 28, 2025

The app doesn’t have all the same filters as the website, but it does have search and some of the most commonly used filters, so it’s not just your shelf.

Just downloaded the app. Excited to give it a whirl!
