New CookShelf Substack, featuring Rose Levy Beranbaum as the first guest author!

In connection with the upcoming launch of the CookShelf app – which is in the final stages of beta-testing – Katie is launching a free Substack newsletter. This will complement the EYB blog, featuring cookbook recommendations from authors and recipe writers, and providing ingredient-focused roundups and cook-throughs of select cookbook recipes. We hope that this will provide another layer of useful content for cookbook lovers.

The newsletter will dive into new releases, revisit classic volumes, and uncover hidden gems in the cookbook world. Authors who write guest posts will be given wide latitude to talk about cookbooks from whatever perspective they choose, whether it be the ones they use the most, which volumes speak to them on an emotional level, or the cookbooks that set them on their food writing journey.

Kicking off the first issue is none other than beloved cookbook author and author of Real Baking with Rose, Rose Levy Beranbaum, aka “the Diva of Desserts”. Rose shares which cookbooks have influenced her, the cookbooks she is loving today, and what she is currently working on (not a cookbook, but you will want to read it!). More wonderful guest posts and amazing original content will follow, so be sure to head over to Substack and subscribe to the CookShelf newsletter!

I signed up for this newsletter. I was promptly subscribed to six other blogs that I didn’t subscribe to and that I didn’t want. THIS IS A SCAM. SHAME ON YOU.

As redbird pointed out there is a box that we could “unclick” when signing up to follow that prohibited being added to other newsletters. CookShelf has removed that feature so it shouldn’t happen again.

I truly enjoyed reading the newsletter and was tickled to see that Rose and I share the same opinion of many cookbooks. I look forward to future posts!

As for being automatically subscribed to other blogs, there was a check box that I could “unclick” when signing up to follow CookShelf’s newsletter that prohibited being added to other newsletters.

I’ve been whittling down my Substack subs lately (they breed like rabbits) but this one gets a priority add. Hope it helps grow the universe of EYB users and fans.

I would love to try the app, but am supposed to enter a code supposedly sent to my email address – how do I get you to send me an email? I downloaded TestFlight but can’t find CookShelf app
