Guild of Food Writers 2025 winners announced

The Guild of Food Writers announced the winners of its 2025 awards at a ceremony in London at the Royal Institution on June 18th. At the event, Arabella Boxer was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Arabella has a storied food writing history, including stints at the Sunday Times magazine, the Telegraph magazine, and Vogue, plus authoring several cookbooks. Throughout her long career she took home several awards for her food writing, including an Andre Simon award in 1991.

Now on to this year’s winning books, which are a treasure trove of excellence. It’s been a great year for Nicola Lamb, who nabbed The First Book Award for Sift: The Elements of Great Baking, after just taking the James Beard Award for Baking. The winner of the General Cookbook Award was Ottolenghi Comfort by Yotam Ottolenghi, Helen Goh, Tara Wigley and Verena Lochmuller. Winning this may take away some of the sting of losing in the General category of the James Beard Awards to a first-time cookbook author.

Additional awards include Bethlehem: A Modern Take on Palestinian Cuisine by Fadi Kattan, which took home the International or Regional Cookbook Award; Love Vegetables: Delicious Recipes for Vibrant Meals by Anna Shepherd, winner of the Single Subject Cookbook; and The Elements of Baking: Making any Recipe Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Egg-free or Vegan by Katarina Cermelj, named best Specialist Cookbook. You can see additional award winners on our Guild of Food Writers 2025 page. Congratulations to the winning authors!
