Culinary icon Lynne Rossetto Kasper to auction prized collection

Lynne Rossetto Kasper, founder and original host of American Public Media’s acclaimed “The Splendid Table” radio show, is downsizing and offering her treasured culinary collection to the highest bidder.

Throughout her distinguished career, Rossetto Kasper connected with renowned chefs and home cooks alike until her retirement in 2017. Her expertise earned her multiple James Beard awards, and in 1988, the James Beard Foundation named her one of the twelve best cooking teachers in America. Her debut cookbook, The Splendid Table, received the prestigious Cookbook of the Year award from both the James Beard Foundation and the International Association of Culinary Professionals. We have previously written about Rossetto Kasper on the occasion of The Splendid Table turning 20 and about the speaking tour she embarked on in connection with that anniversary.

The auction, titled “Lynne Rossetto Kasper: The Splendid Collection,” features an impressive array of culinary artifacts, including:

  • French copper pans
  • Le Creuset cookware
  • Sterling silver serving pieces
  • Rare cookbooks containing handwritten notes and Post-its
  • Personal correspondence with culinary legend Julia Child

Oh, my! So much good stuff in this auction. I’ll have to set a reminder for April 16th so I can get that copper bowl, table runners and Lucky Peach magazines.
