2023 Taste Canada Award winners
October 31, 2023 by DarcieThe Taste Canada Awards were announced last evening at a soiree held at the historic Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. The Awards are presented to outstanding Canadian cookbooks in both English and French languages. This is the biggest night of the year for Canadian cookbook authors.
Unlike other cookbook awards, Taste Canada presents both gold and silver awards in each category for each language, resulting in a bevy of winners despite having only five subject areas. The Gold award winners for English language cookbooks are:

- Culinary Narratives: Have You Eaten Yet?: Stories from Chinese Restaurants Around the World by Cheuk Kwan
- General Cookbooks: Make Every Dish Delicious: Modern Classics and Essential Tips for Total Kitchen Confidence by Lesley Chesterman
- Regional/Cultural Cookbooks: Where the River Narrows: Classic French & Nostalgic Québécois Recipes From St. Lawrence Restaurant by J. C. Poirier
- Single Subject Cookbooks: The Miracle of Salt: Recipes and Techniques to Ferment Food, Preserve Ingredients, and Transform Your Cooking by Naomi Duguid
- Health or Special Diet Cookbooks: Good for Your Gut: A Plant-Based Digestive Health Guide and Nourishing Recipes for Living Well by Desiree Nielsen
- Hall of Fame honorees – Anne Lindsay and Jean Paré
You can visit our Taste Canada Awards 2023 page to discover the silver award winners as well as view all nominees for English language cookbooks. You’ll also find links to view our 2022 and 2021 Taste Canada Award pages and a link to the Taste Canada site to view winners prior to 2021. Congratulations to the winners!
