Themed cafés are not a new concept. There are internet cafés, cat cafés, rock and roll cafés, and more. But one we hadn’t heard of before sounds like the best one yet. A library in Austin, Texas, is getting ready to launch a cookbook café.
The city library solicited ideas from restaurateurs and others in the city, and a local restaurant group came up with the intriguing idea. The concept is for an eatery that “will have a changing menu compiled directly from cookbooks available for library checkout,” according to Lauraine Rizer, the city’s officer of real estate services.
The article did not say when the café planned to open. EYB Members in Austin, please fill us in whether the concept is as wonderful as it sounds.
