2016 IACP Cookbook Award Winners

The IACP has just announced the winners of its 2016 Cookbook Awards at its annual conference, held this year in Los Angeles, California. There were no real upsets; most of the winners were solid contenders from the beginning.

It may have taken longer than he intended to write his opus, but it looks like all the work paid off for J. Kenji López-Alt. His cookbook, The Food Lab: Better Home Cooking Through Science won in the American category and was also named Cookbook of the Year. Books about tacos also performed well this year. Tacos: Recipes and Provocations by Alex Stupak and Jordana Rothman won in the Chefs and Restaurants Category and Tacopedia: The Taco Encyclopedia by Deborah Holtz and Juan Carlos Mena received an award in the Reference and Technical Category. 

Two categories had multiple winners. In Wine, Beer, and Spirits The Beer Bible by Jeff Alworth and Napa Valley Then & Now by Kelli A. White both received IACP Awards. Likewise in the Photography category, two awards were given: What Katie Ate: At the Weekend by Katie Quinn Davies and Foster’s Market Favorites: 25th Anniversary Collection by Sara Foster.

Other winners include Food52 Genius Recipes by Kristen Miglore (Compilations), Phoenix Claws and Jade Trees: Essential Techniques of Authentic Chinese Cooking by Kian Lam Kho and Jody Horton (Julia Child First Book Award), and Vegetarian India: A Journey Through the Best of Indian Home Cooking by Madhur Jaffrey (Single Subject).
