Everything you wanted to know about hot dogs
July 4, 2012 by Lindsay
Hot dogs are synonymous with summer – at least here in the United
States – but sausages are also world-wide, so we thought this
article from Leslie Hatfield at the Huffington Post, All About Hot
Dogs: Kosher Controversy, Label Confusion, Regional Flavors and
More would appeal both to those of us celebrating summer and
the 4th of July and those who want insight into one of the weirder
American food traditions.
This article will tell you everything you need to know about hot dogs, with several links to videos, including one on how hot dogs are made, one on Nathan’s famous hot dog eating championship – started as a way to show patriotism and now actually televised live – and a great video (from Chow) on how to easily spiral cut a hot dog. This technique maximizes the caramelized grilled flavor, increases meat to condiment ratio, and allows the dog to fit more easily in a bun. Enjoy!
