From Every Angle, Advice for Future Food Writers, Food 52’s
Amanda Hesser gives indepth and realistic advice to anyone looking
to make a career in food writing. Of particular interest is that
she notes how much her advice has changed from just a few years
ago. Besides the explosion of food writing online (blogs, etc.)
there is also the realities of the economic pressures on print
publications. However, she’s not totally pessimistic. As she
writes,
“So what happens now if someone comes to me wanting to become a writer? I don’t totally crush their dreams. I just step on them a bit — before trying to help the aspirant re-imagine his or her future in a whole new way.”
A must read for anyone looking to get into the food writing biz.
