Magazine indexing

You may have noticed a proliferation of Cook’s Illustrated and Bon Appetit magazines in the EYB Library’s latest indexed list. Now that we have the ability to index magazines we have several indexers making their way through piles of old magazines.

We’ve been running a survey on the Community page to find out from you which magazines you’d like indexed. The most popular were Cook’s Illustrated (48%) then Bon Appetit (40%) with Cooking Light, Gourmet, Saveur and Fine Cooking all close behind. We are still indexing just as many books, though they may get lost for a while amongst the Cook’s Illustrated magazines as we upload them.

We are also adding links to ‘official’ online versions of recipes from cookbooks. Soon you will be able to filter on magazines and online recipes for your searches.

    Is Eatable magazine something that would be indexed?

      Please add magazine requests to this Forum topic. We cannot possibly index every food magazine around the world so we rely on member requests to guide us in which magazine recipes our members would like to see in our index. In the meantime, don’t forget you can add any online recipe (and most magazines put their recipes online) to the Library and your Bookshelf using the Bookmarklet – explained here in Help.

    I have a special edition of Taste of Home and Better Homes and Gardens (Soups & Stews); can I index these myself? The IBSN nor title search result in a hit so I cannot click to request indexing.

      You will need to first add the magazine issue to the Library using the Member Added Books feature, explained here in Help. Although this feature refers to ‘Books’ you can add magazines as well using this feature. Once it is added we will change the type to Magazines so it appears on the Magazines tab. Then you can request to index it.

    Coles Magazine
    Fresh Magazine

    Can I add these myself to my library?
