Taste Canada Awards longlist released
May 8, 2024 by DarcieNow in its 27th year, Taste Canada / Saveurs du Canada has announced the longlist of 73 cookbooks vying for its coveted culinary writing awards. The Awards are presented to outstanding Canadian cookbooks in both English and French languages. The shortlist will be announced online on June 12, 2024 and the winners will be announced in autumn of this year (for reference, last year the winners were crowned on October 30).
Unlike many other awards, The Taste Canada honors have only five categories: Culinary Narratives, General Cookbooks, Regional/Cultural Cookbooks, Single Subject Cookbooks, and Health or Special Diet Cookbooks. However, multiple books can win an award. English-language books of note include:
- Kitchen Bliss by Laura Calder
- Sundays: A Celebration of Breakfast and Family in 52 Essential Recipes by Mark Pupo
- Always Hungry! by Laurent Dagenais

- Cake & Loaf Gatherings: Sweet and Savoury Recipes to Celebrate Every Occasion by Nickey Miller and Josie Rudderham
- Dad in the Kitchen: Over 100 Delicious Family Recipes You’ll Love to Make and They’ll Love to Eat by Cory Vitiello and Chris Johns
- In Mary’s Kitchen: Stress-Free Recipes for Every Home Cook by Mary Berg
- A Very Prairie Christmas Bakebook: Cookies, Candies, Cakes & More: Vintage Baking to Celebrate the Festive Season by Karlynn Johnston
- Asian Vegetables: Gardening. Cooking. Storytelling by Stéphanie Wang, Caroline Wang & Patricia Ho-Yi Wang
