Food news antipasto

I spotted several gift guides and ideas as I was checking on food news, and thought I would share a few highlights: Nordic Ware has gifts for the Bundt lover and more, Saveur has a limited edition cookbook featuring holiday cakes. The New York Times has a list of 24 gifts for people who love food, and Food & Wine has even more (50, to be exact). If you want to subscribe to Samin Nosrat’s Substack, she and her team have recommendations for food gifts.

Hanukkah began this evening, marking the start of the eight-day celebration. If you are looking for different recipes to celebrate this year, head over to our Hanukkah Pinterest Board where you will find over 100 recipes from breads to mains, sides, and desserts. The Blue and white cookies pictured above is one of the recipes recently added to the Board.

Looking for ways to use up extra cranberries and want to add some pizzazz to your holiday party at the same time? Try the latest TikTok trend (that is actually an old recipe, being revived by social media): popping cranberries. These are simple to make and don’t take a lot of time or any special ingredients. You get a sweet/sour kick each time you bite into one of these goodies.

As long as we are in the holiday season, we may as well dive in all way. For Grace Dent, that means getting cozy and watching holiday cooking specials. Her favorite is the 2017 Nigella: At My Table Christmas special. Dent dares us “to watch the Nigella Christmas special and feel anything but drunk on yuletide bonhomie.” She reminisces about a few others, stating that while many of these shows do little to actually help us get ready for the holiday, they provide a healthy dose of good cheer.

There was a lot of buzz this week about the unusual way that Martha Stewart eats bagels. Not only does she not eat a whole (poppy seed preferred) bagel in one sitting (she only eats 1/4 at a time), she tears it into pieces, topping each one with a schmear of cream cheese. I won’t judge the method, but I am disappointed with the quantity.

In case you missed this post: That’s a wrap
