See the best cakes in Australia and learn from the masters
April 13, 2019 by DarcieIf you love all things cake and you live near Brisbane, mark your calendars for May 16-19. That is when the 2019 International Cake Show Australia is taking place at the Brisbane Showgrounds Exhibition Building. The event is hosted by the Australian Cake Artists and Decorators Association (ACADA), a not-for-profit industry and community association created for cake decorators of all levels, from high profile professional cake artist to home hobbyist.

The event features a cake competition that anyone can enter, workshops and classes, over 90 free demonstrations on four different demonstrate stages, including cake and cookie decorating mini classes. You can also meet Australian and international celebrity chefs & cake heroes and view live cake and chocolate sculpting shows. Some of the demonstrations and classes are free when you buy a ticket to the show while others require an additional fee.
The classes look fascinating – you can learn how to make the popular geode cakes that are all the rage on Instagram, master mirror glazes, learn how to make Korean bean paste flowers, discover how to make dimensional lace decorations, and more. A one-day ticket for the show is $24 AUS, with discounts offered for ACADA members, pensioners, and students. Multi-day passes are available as well.
