The most popular recipe on the Internet

Unlike television shows or books, it’s hard to gauge the popularity of things on the internet because of the sheer volume – how do you compare? But there are indications – Twitter has Followers, Facebook has Likes, and recipes have views and ratings.  And by those indications, The Washington Post has dubbed this lasagna recipe on AllRecipes.com – with over 7,000 reviews, 10,000 ratings, and 12,000 million views – the single most popular English-language internet recipe.

The recipe, modestly titled The World’s Best Lasagna, was posted in 2001 by a home cook who has only posted one other recipe on AllRecipes. The recipe itself is a classic lasagna, with 20 ingredients, and built around an Italian sausage long-simmered meat sauce. And it’s not quick – it will take about 3 hours start to finish.
