Something to crow about

You won’t find them indexed on EYB, but these amazing animal sculptures made exclusively from knives, forks, and spoons are worth a share nonetheless. The only thing more amazing than seeing Ohio artist Gary Hovey’s stunning work is learning that Gary has been challenged with the effects of Parkinson’s disease since 1994. Gary continues his art with the help of family and friends to help move the pieces, but he still does the metalwork himself.

The level of detail in the sculptures is amazing. They range in size from a few inches to several feet tall. You can see more of Gary’s work on his website, where he notes that his goal is to ensure that “the animal’s appearance is appreciated first for its form. Then, on closer inspection, the details of the forks, knives, and spoons bring enjoyment on a whole new level.” 

These beauties surely up the ante on the spoon flowers and knife dragonflies at the local craft fair.
